Spreads
The spread is the difference between the buy and sell price. It is the main cost on every trade. Spreads vary by broker, by instrument and by time of day, and they usually widen around major news and at the daily rollover.
Commissions
Some accounts charge a fixed commission per lot traded in exchange for tighter, raw spreads. ECN accounts often work this way. Others charge no commission and build their fee into a wider spread.
Swaps
If you hold a position past the daily rollover, your broker applies a swap, also called overnight financing. It can be a cost or, occasionally, a credit, depending on the instrument and direction.
Deposit and withdrawal costs
Brokers set their own funding terms. With crypto funding, the blockchain network also charges its own network fee to send a transaction.
